It is no exaggeration to say that my love for live performance has been a lifelong affair, starting with my earliest memories. I have tried to pinpoint exactly where and how it started, but it is impossible. I do know that I was deeply inspired as a child by Carol Burnett, the Muppets, Mel Brooks, Whoopi Goldberg, and movie musicals like Grease 2. Since then, I have created theatre in Louisiana, Texas, New York City, Tokyo, and Salvador, Brazil. Working on my PhD exploded my appreciation for the art form beyond my love of performing to writing, dramaturging, directing theatre as well as researching its history and teaching it at the university level.
